FAQs
Q. The typical problem with polymer
rollers is that the sleeves are coming off, after the condensation gets
between the steel pipe and the plastic. Is there any change on this?
A. The HDPE pipe starts immediately after the bearing housing,
meaning that the only path for moisture from outside to penetrate is through
the bearing. With the 4 x lip seal arrangement protecting the bearing,
moisture has no path to the steel pipe.
On the inside of the pipe, the HDPE is pressed onto the bearing cover and
the steel pipe, creating a seal that prevents moisture from entering.
In practice no problems have been experienced with this phenomena.
Q. How do they work at high temperatures?
A. The HDPE quality used has a very good resistance against
UV-radiation. The practical reference at Telfer Gold Mine in Western
Australia is a good evidence of this. After 2 years of operation in
direct sunlight with 40-50 degree day time temperature, there have been
no failures.
